Okay, so there aren't quite as many people waiting to see the next Wayson Harris cover as there were waiting for J.K. Rowling to reveal the cover of Harry Potter #7. I'm still excited.
The Clone Alliance is the third book in my four-part trilogy. It begins with Harris and Freeman escaping from the worst hell they have yet faced--the colony of Neo-Baptist farmers.
If you were hoping for a glimpse of the Adam Boyd SEAL Clones in action, you'll get more than that out of The Clone Alliance. Yamashiro and the Japanese return as well; but this time the Mogats have the upper hand. With the Broadcast Network demolished and the Earth Fleet defeated, who knows what state the Unified Authority will be in.
The cover for this book was created by Christian McGrath, who created the covers for the other two Wayson Harris novels as well. I am sometimes asked if I paid for the cover or hired the artist or even created the art. Christian was hired by Ace Publishing. I think it is clear that he reads the books before creating his amazing paintings. He has certainly captured the essence of each of my novels.
I liked the whistful look on Harris's face on the cover of The Clone Alliance. As I was trying to portray him as a true-believer who was losing faith, I thought nailed my concepts. I liked the cover of Rogue Clone even more. I liked the shifty expression on Harris's face. It fit his character in that book. I also liked the red motif.
This cover, though, I think is Christian's best cover yet. It is the first time he has shown action on one of my covers. Harris has his particle ray gun out. The Clone Alliance has more action than earlier books in the series.
The Clone Alliance comes out at the end of October.
For those of you who like to look far ahead, I have finished the first draft of the final novel from this series, The Clone Elite. It will come out some time in 2008. I hope to have more novels set in the Unified Authority and maybe more novels with Wayson Harris, but The Clone Elite will wrap up the story arc for this series.
