Kit, KillerBit, and Sniper I need your names as soon as you can get them to me. I will not post them on this blog--well, Sniper, I think you are already on; but I need them as soon as I can get them.

Starting the next conversation
Okay guys, you've been nothing if not loyal; but let's talk about who is good in my field. Here are some authors of speculative fiction that I like:
Joe Haldeman
Neal Stephenson
Orson Scott Card
Dave Wolverton/Dave Farland
John Scalzi
Jack Campbell
Jim Butcher
William Deitz
Being as I got my start covering video and computer games, I think it is only fair that I list a few great sci-fi-based games as well.
System Shock 2
Half-Life
BioShock
Dead Space
Super Metroid
(The Legend of Zelda if we are including fantasy as well.)
These are the first to come to mind.
Finally, I would like to suggest a movie or two.
Galaxyquest
Gattaca
Blade Runner
Aliens
Terminator
Nope, there are no Star Wars/Trek flicks to be found on my list, though I certainly enjoyed four of the Star Wars and three of the Star Treks. I even got a kick out of a couple of the really, really, truly awful Star Trek movies like the one in which Spock's brother hijacks the Enterprise so he can meet God who turns out to be a not-especially powerful alien or the one in which Captain Von Trapp plays a Shakespeare-quoting Klingon.
