A Quick Note To Amer

Yes, you will definitely see more of the Avatari in Book Seven. They still maintain some mystery, but the Japanese and the Seals are right there.

Things have been a bit crazy this summer. Crazy on your side as well?

I'm sorry and I don't mean to intrude on this convo. (also i am writing this via iPhone and at 0137 am so please bear with me) Mr. Kent, sir. My name is Adam Mauldin. I've been reading your clone books for years now. I used an excerpt from rogue clone for a creative writing class at least once my sophomore year in college. I LOVE THEM. (This message may be kinda scattered btw.) I just finished The Clone Betrayal. Speck that was good.(I'm considering using that word more often, but in select crowds. I am also considering heavily editing this message to eliminate much of the stink of fanboyness that may be found annoying to you. But I do hope it is only encouraging. So I may keep it, all that fanboyness) I started reading your books years ago upon finding them offered at the bottom of an amazon page when I was looking up the book "Armor" by John Steakly.( a fav of mine a friend got me into in high school.) They looked and sounded good by the combo of cover art and description so I got them along with "the lost fleet" series by Jack Cambell for Christmas. I planned to read them one after another and did. I read" Clone Republic " then "lost fleet" then "Rogue Clone". Then i feel out of my plans with college and army ROTC a bit but grabbed up "Clone Alliance "when I could. I wanted to know what haPpened to Harris first. In the past few weeks I've read "Clone eliete" and "clone betrayal". (like i said and just finished betrayal) I was too fired up to sleep and am sending you thIs message now especially since I'd been thinking about it since i read aboutyour site in your notes at the end. I cannot see what i Wrote above in this massive message so editing is out the window. Please do not take this post as a bad first impression. I am a amateur writer and do care, but like I said earlier, Iphone, 2 am, fanboy. Enough said. In conclusion( did i mention I do comedy?), I sent this whole thing to ask you that if and when these books ever become movies, ... Could you put a recommendation in for me to be able to audition for Harris? Haha. I'm an actor( still in my humble beginnings but a professional actor never the less). I would love to help portray your story on the big screens some day. I have blue eyes but they have contact lenses and cg for that. Besides that I am exactly in between 6'3 and 6'4. I have brown hair. I am lanky and slim- ish but with p90x build on top of that. My ROTC gives me some military background but heck, I'd go to boot camp just to train for playing Harris. I really dont know what else to say except I cant wait to read "the Clone Empire". Hope you had a great 4th. Can't wait to read if you respond tomorrow.

Your , ha if I may say so, most (appearing) liberator fan,

Adam Mauldin

P.s. I may be extremely embarrassed to read this in the morning but you being in hawii, it would be two days before you got anything I'd send you tomorrow. (that and the awkwardness of this message may help it stick out to you from all your other fans).

Adam, if there is ever a Clone movie, we will certainly give you a shot at Harrishood. There can be no doubt who would play the ill-fated Dr. Morman... JenMo.

Kyle said...

crazy liberator loving intellectual she is, I would boycott it if it didn't.

Well, at least I'd think about it for about 30 seconds.

And, yes, Steve, my life is extremely crazy right now.

JenMo said...

Maybe the movie will have rewrites and I'll get to live this time around. For future clone mental analysis, and to give the film a certain amount if sexual tension. If not, I hope the scene of Dr Morman's demise is shown, not just walked in on the end result. Like to see her go down fighting.

Adam said...

Okay, okay, I'm going to admit it. At first I panicked a bit because I did not know who Dr. Morman was.
Nor JenMo.

I thought perhaps one was a smaller character that completely slipped my mind from the first book and that JenMo was a nickname for some popculture person and I was about to look incredibly "not an actual fan of the books" for not knowing either.

Then my combat reflex kicked in and I decided to just look up JenMo on the blogg.

"Oh, Dr. Morman is in the book I have not read yet. And...JenMo is a blogger." >_>

*wipes sweat from brow*

(elbow jabs/fist pumps for 'Harrishood' audition opportunity)

Btw, I'm 21 now. But if they don't hurry and see the genius and start making these films in the next few years, I might get too old for Harris in the first book. lol

I think though Summer Glau would make a GREAT Dr Morman! Ya know, if I'm unavailable.

Hi Steven. First time I've ever posted on a Blog of any kind so sorry if this is the wrong place !

Just finished reading the History of Video Games for the fourth time over as many years. What a superb book !

Do you have any plans for an updated version or perhaps a part 2 ?

Each time I get too the end I feel pretty gutted ! atb, Nick

Steven L. Kent said...

Yes, it would need some recurring characters with a Sad Sam's background.

Steven L. Kent said...

I think they will need to run out of works by many other authors before they look at a Harris movie. Maybe my great great great great great great great great great great great great grandchildren will collect on one.

Steven L. Kent said...

Summer Glau, only with a few white hairs, precisely how I envisioned her!

Steven L. Kent said...

Nick_H, this is the perfect place to contact an author. Thank you for coming to Sad Sam's.

A few years back, I went to my publisher and proposed an updated version of the book. They said they were not interested. Since then they published All Your Bases Are Belong To Us, by a superb games journalist named Harold Goldberg. It's not exactly an update of my book, but it is certainly very up-to-date.

Nick_H said...

Thanks for the reply :-) I think they are making a mistake !

Perhaps we should blitz them with emails explaining the error of their ways ;-)

I'll check out 'All Your Bases Are Belong To Us' but imo it has big shoes to fill.....

I had no idea you wrote SF. Currently have a few books to finish off but I'll make a start on your first book as soon as I can. Will report back then lol ! atb, Nick

Steven L. Kent said...

It's a good book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

But I'll be honest, I'm even more concerned about how you like my novels.

Adam said...

Psha. I'll be too old to play Harris by then.

No fun.

They'll just have to start making them as you write.

Like Harry Potter.

Just infinitely better.

Steven L. Kent said...

Adam, I wish my be book was nearly as good as Rowling's worst.

Adam said...

Pish Posh, Mr. Kent. "Look at that humility folks!
Lets give him a round of applause!"

Though I am only a amateur writer and certainly no expert in truly comparing the prettiness of combinations of words and was in no way saying I was comparing yours and hers in that regard, I only meant that when it comes to fantasy, wizards, and wands, science fiction, guns, and glory,(as well as a little romance on the side being involved with the story, but not necessarily required) are much more to my liking.
Specifically and especially your kind.
That was my meaning. :J

Either way, I just finished Clone Empire and LOVED IT!
I was very angry half way through.

SPOILER ALERT!

I was like, 'Ava, you specking witch. The man saved you from thousands of hungry clones that had not seen women for months, provided food, water, clothes, and security for you, and literally even dumped out your toilet daily, got you a job, and a house, not to mention didn't 'rape' you himself, and you leave him.
Gratitude for ya.
If only you could have read what I read! Then you'd understand his incredible desire to get back to you after every battle and his feelings for you and how different they were than from the other women in the world/galaxy he had met!
But then in the end, ohhhhhh, that was intense! YUT!
She was all Leia, 'Hold me'.
And he was all B.A. and like.
'Nah, you left me, but I'm not saying squat. At least not until Mr. Kent possibly lets me let you earn your way back into my life, or me have mercy on you.'
Woah.
And then the Epilogue.
I wonder if the next book will jump back and forth and we'll have two main characters, Harris and Illych, or if the next book will leave Harris out completely and follow Illych and his SEALS and the avatari home world war and come back to Harris in the end and have the next book explain what happened with him and the book after that move on to more adventures.
Either way, I'M STOKED!
I can't put your books down, Mr. Kent.
Keep rocking what you're doing.
I can't wait to hear what Harris does next and all about Illych the Avatari and also what becomes of Ava and Harris.

SPOILER ENDS HERE

Steven L. Kent said...

Thanks, Adam. You made my night; which is great since I locked myself out of my house and it cost me a specking fortune to get back in.

Adam said...

Dang. That sucks.
Sorry about that, Mr. Kent.

Those guys know how to make a pay day.
People will always seem to forget their keys at some point,(unless marketers finally make something useful to sell to us on tv) but it happens few and far in between.(not to justify that price! Once it cost my Dad $100 to get into the car when my little bro closed the trunk too early.)
But glad I could be of Service, Mr. Kent.

Btw, Looked up The Clone Redemption.
Saw it on Amazon.
I was about to be like, "WHAT??! WHY DIDN'T ANYONE SPECKING TELL ME?!"
Then I saw the words "pre-order" and "release date".

*wipes sweat from brow*
"Fwew!"
Haha.

But don't let this anticipation from me and all your other fans rush it, Mr. Kent.
(I'm surprised there aren't more people talking to you on here about the books.)
(I feel like Jimmy Olsen when I hear my words in my head saying your name, btw.)
The quality is definitely worth the wait.
(Though my spelling is not.)

Which Reminds me...I need to finish some of my books...and screenplays...

Steven L. Kent said...

Yes, writing your own projects needs, Needs, NEEDS to be a priority.

That said, what have I misspelled now?

Adam said...

Hmmm? Oh no. I was talking about my own spelling.

Sorry.

Yes. So I have been told.
I shall get back on them at once!

Amer Elali said...

yes more alien but are they going to be fighting the actual Avatari or more of the tachyon representaions.
oh and sry for the late reply i am currently overseas visiting family and internet doesnt come as often as i want it to.
ok and now to a question i have remember when you put up a part of the new book in which the adam clones are having a meeting which the members of the Japanese fleet and the Japanese members think that they dont speak or understand japanese but it turns out that they do and in their is my question/s. first how did the clones learn the language did they all happen to take a class at a near by college or my most likely action it got inserted into their brain like it got downloaded into their brain. and my second question is will the clones be hiding the fact that they can speak and understand Japanese or do they get found out

Steven L. Kent said...

All excellent questions, Amer; but sadly, none of them questions I can answer without giving away more than I want to give.
