THE CAT IS OUT OF THE BAG...

Well, okay, the book is out on some shelves. Glenn and Nick Forrester have found the book at Book's a Million.

Well so far I'm nearly 100 pages in and loving it so far.

Having Freeman turn into a "Good Guy" type character really seems odd since I so vividly remember him being this hulking brute who super-glues hand grenades to your hand. I just feels a bit when he more or less forced Harris into allowing him access to the EM broadcast network.

I just finished the book and I must say the 2nd half lives up to the expectations the first half generated.

I really enjoy the way the book ended and it is seriously making me look forward to the Clone Sedition! Holman is definitely one of my favorite characters.

There is a real Jim Holman in this world, a close friend. We go to the movies often. I had no trouble creating that character because I could always ask myself, what would the real Jim do.

And, remember guys, NO SPOILERS!

I'll have to get to a bookstore and pick up a copy.... I've been in CA this week working on a project for work so had forgotten about the release date. I'll be here in CA next week too but then back in Texas on the 29th...

Books-a-Million apparently has it. The B&Ns around me do not.

How is sunny CA?

Welcome to CA Aaron, I live here and Steven, CA is always nice.

I have been to several stores and they just don't have the book yet, so I'll keep looking.

By the by, second draft woes? Any advice? Haven't gotten all critiques back yet but I am getting ready to face the firing squad as it were....

Steven L. Kent said...

Second drafts should be fun. If you waited between first and second draft, you should be finding passages you forgot you wrote and you really like.

I preordered it at amazon... haven't heard that they shipped it yet... :/ looking forward to it.

Steven L. Kent said...

David, Amazon says they have them in. So does my local B&N store. Apparently Books-a-Million has had them for nearly a week.

I just picked up a copy @ B&N!! I'm excited to read it!!

Steven L. Kent said...

Well, Nick liked it and Sean had some concerns. Here's hoping you like like it.

Steven,
just fineshed the book on kindle last night. I liked everything but the ending. Can we start a new thread so we can discuss the book without spoiling it for others? Do get me wrong, im hooked and will be reading all the new books the day they come out but feel the ending was lacking. lol

A few of my favorite authors--John Grisham, Martin Cruz Smith, and Neal Stephenson come to mind--are fabulous writers but bad enders. I would hate to think that I have fallen into that category.

E said...

Lol,
no i dont think your a bad ender at all. If this was the last book ever in your Clone story, then yes i would be upset a little. A ton of unanswered questions, however, since i know there will be more books its fine. Lol and im just being selfish because i want more. lol

I picked the book up the day of release at the Books a Million downstairs of my office. I couldn't wait to get it open and finish up the series.

Steven, you are an extraordinary writer, and I am very excited to see where everything will go from this book.

By the way, I think you should do some small book signings. That would be fantastic!

Steven L. Kent said...

Thanks, Jordan, for everything you said. If I did signings, they would be small indeed--but I have great readers!

Jordan said...

The community may seem small, but you've made all of us readers for life, I'm sure.

Also, how many other authors out there actually take time to reply to their readers like you do? None that I know of!

Steven L. Kent said...

I have the benefit of having readers I like on a personal basis.

Long time no post! My life has changed a bit since I last posted (nothing major, just got a "career" type job) and I lost touch a bit. I didn't even realize the book was out until this last weekend. I was out shopping and thought "I wonder if Steven's book is out yet?" so I stopped by Books-A-Million and there it was!

I'm only about 80 pages in so far, but that is quite a feat considering I've only had the time to sit down and read it for about two hours. I hope to finish it off over the long holiday weekend. You seriously rank up there with Scalzi and Ringo as one of the only authors I can sit down and read in long spurts. it also doesn't hurt to see references to Norristown and Norrislake (I can't remember if those are my namesake or not though.)

Steven L. Kent said...

Welcome back, Josh. What kind of work are you doing?

Josh said...

I'm an electronics technician for a local company the builds radar and video equipment for police and emergency management agencies. Getting that electronics degree paid off after all!

For the first time in my working life I have insurance! lol Pay isn't awesome, but it pays enough that I'm looking to buy my first house; I'm pretty excited about it.

Steven L. Kent said...

Josh, that sounds like a fabulous job, and you made your degree pay off. I hope your first house is a great one.

Josh said...

I think I made the offer in the past, but it still stands: if you ever need to bounce ideas off someone or get feedback on something electronic for something you are writing I'm happy to help.

I mean I'm no engineer or physicist, but I know enough (I hope I do anyway lol)to at least point you in the right direction. Its the least I could do for giving me some advice and words of encouragement back when I was trying my hand at writing.

Steven L. Kent said...

Thanks, Josh. When the times comes I will take you up on that.
